Canada Day in Steveston

July 1st - I spent with the Rotary Club of Steveston dressed as a pirate for their pirate ship float in the annual Canada Day parade and later at their annual BBQ. A wonderful start to the new Rotary year. Thousands watch the parade. This is great PR for Rotary.

The club displayed the new street banners that will be placed on street light poles in Steveston Village, one of the main tourist sites in Metro Vancouver - more great PR.

Meet DG Penny

Penny Offer is the Governor of District 5040 for 2010-11. She served as Assistant Governor for the clubs in Vancouver from 2005 to 2008. She was chair of the District 5040 Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) committee and a RLI training leader.

Penny is a member of the RC of Vancouver Chinatown. She has served on a variety of district committees. In 2009 she was invited to serve on a panel at the RI Convention in Birmingham on strategic planning. She is a charter member of the Bequest Society, member of the Paul Harris Society and a major donor for The Rotary Foundation.

She was a Rotary Foundation volunteer in the Philippines delivering humanitarian aid and a volunteer on a Rotaplast mission to Chengde, China assisting a medical team with surgery for children with cleft lips and palates.

Penny's classification is Health Care Administration. She retired in 1998 as a senior health care administrator. She has a BA, MSW & MA.
