Squamish a Night to Remember

New Rotarians welcomed to RC of Squamish

On Friday, June 24 at the West Coast Railway Museum in Squamish I installed the new officers and board members of the club for 2011-12. What a fantastic backdrop. The Royal Hudson was pulled into the round house and a number of other vintage rolling stock for the evening. President Pat Taylor gave a great PowerPoint presentation on all the numerous projects the club has taken on this year. PDG Chris Offer presented six PH Fellow recognition certificates and AG Sheri Davis presented the PHF pins. I also had the pleasure of inducting two new Rotarians . Congratulations to President Pat and her 2010-11 team for a very successful year for the Rotary Club of Squamish.

Meet DG Penny

Penny Offer is the Governor of District 5040 for 2010-11. She served as Assistant Governor for the clubs in Vancouver from 2005 to 2008. She was chair of the District 5040 Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) committee and a RLI training leader.

Penny is a member of the RC of Vancouver Chinatown. She has served on a variety of district committees. In 2009 she was invited to serve on a panel at the RI Convention in Birmingham on strategic planning. She is a charter member of the Bequest Society, member of the Paul Harris Society and a major donor for The Rotary Foundation.

She was a Rotary Foundation volunteer in the Philippines delivering humanitarian aid and a volunteer on a Rotaplast mission to Chengde, China assisting a medical team with surgery for children with cleft lips and palates.

Penny's classification is Health Care Administration. She retired in 1998 as a senior health care administrator. She has a BA, MSW & MA.
